Erin’s Garden Recommendations

After 20 years of Growing Home in the high desert Erin has complied her very favorite products,
(none of which give her a commission for mentioning them!)

Garden Gear

Dramm Hoses – These hoses are not only pretty colors, but withstand high heat and desert sun and coil perfectly every time with no trouble at all. I have used a lot of hoses in my day and these are by far the best!

Pruners-Felco #2 have been by my side (literally) for 20 years.  Anything Felco makes is worth owning, but these are my everyday go-to clippers.

Soil Knife– This design is based off the Japanese Hori Hori soil knife which is just about the best gardening tool ever.  Every gardener needs one (or a few!)

Flower Snips– These are great little flower clippers that I keep in my pocket for cutting flowers and herbs.

Holster for snips and soil knife – Gotta have something to carry all these good tools around! This holster makes it easy!

Corona Sharpening Tool for Garden Tools – A good tool is a sharp tool. With this hand held Corona sharpener you can sharpen your pruners and scissor blades every time you snip, ensuring safe, clean cuts to keep your plants healthy and happy.

Kids' Watering Can

Kids’ Watering Can – Little gardeners deserve good tools too. I searched high and low for a quality, weather resistant, light weight kids watering can and I found these beauties at IKEA no less! They are made of unpainted galavanized steel (I prefer unpainted metal watering cans, because all paint eventually peels and chips off into the garden, yuck!). They are great for big hands and little hands alike and should last a childhood.

Haws Watering Cans

Haws Watering Cans – Haws watering cans are classic English cottage garden cans. Probably the oldest watering can company in the world, Haws has been making these beauties since 1886!! They are the perfect design for greenhouse work, casting a very fine spray for seedling work. Mine was a gift from my husband and has been with me for over 13 years. You can tell I use it frequently and it has endured a lot, but still going strong after all these years. You can buy Haws from hundreds of online and brick and mortar shops, including Walmart! so don’t let the price tag deter you they are worth it!
